Cathy Krumrei - Artist

I'll try not to bore you too much but this is where you can get to know me and what I do as a wood carving/ artist. You could say, I was bitten by the bug which is more of than I can say on all the other projects I have done all my life. They came and went. Now it's 2008 and I'm still at it! I took a few local wood carving classes in 1996 and fell in love with being able to create something from a chunk of wood. I enjoy working with my hands and of course everyone needs tools to create some of the projects but I do enjoy hand carving and not to thrilled about having dust all over. I hate cleaning it up and so I do very little power carving except for the wood turning which I use a good system and those are mostly big chips so I do have to clean once in awhile. Oh well.

My First Carving "The Golfer"-

I can laugh with you, I hope I have improved over the years! Ok, stop you can stop laughing now.

My family-

I have been married 38 years to my husband, Darryl. We reside in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. We have 2 sons and 11 grandchildren. We both enjoy working with wood. We are pretty good about sharing each other projects. It is nice to get a 2nd opinion on projects that we work on. Darryl enjoys wood working and has made kitchen cabinets, a baby changing table and has started a gun cabinet that I have design so I can carve them. I'll be sure to post the project asap.

Dedicated to my little brother,

Michael George Hoch

You have been taken away from us but never from our hearts. Until I breathe my last breath, I will always have great memories of you, my little brother. You will never be forgotten. May you have a better life where you are now, free of pain and suffering then you had on this Earth. Thank you all that cared for Mike. You all are special. Mike…I’ll see you again some day. Love and miss you! Cathy

Michael George Hoch, age 45 of Coon Rapids, born March 19, 1964, passed away April 13, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by father, Bruce. Survived by wife, Gail; son, David; daughters, Danielle, Alexandra and Madison; mother, Anita; sisters and brothers, Barbara, Linda, Thomas, Richard, Cathy, Carol, and Bobby; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Special thanks to the staff of Allina Hospice.

Illness has taken  me from you, although not far. I’ll be watching through the sunshine and through the brightest star I’ll be watching all of you, from the heavens up above. So take good care of each other and carry all my love. If your ever wondering if I’m there, here’s where you can start. Take a look inside yourself, deep within your heart. I’ll always be your little brother, your friend. So anytime you need me, close your eyes, I’m back again. Poem dedicated by Carol Irrthum, Mikes sister.

-A testimony-

Bob Collins from Victoria, Australia writes  “It's my first attempt and that I am male and have no idea. This sure is addictive and a lot of fun!” Word of mouth is great, after selling that lot of flowers last night, I have had phone calls enquiries.”  - Bob
