Here are some
examples and the variety of projects I have carved during my
woodcarving adventures.
Each carving is one of a kind and the patterns are my
originals.
The only one here that isn't mine is the angel birdhouse, a
Chris Whillock design, that was in The Carving Magazine as a
project. The pictures are just to present to you.
My style (that's what they call it) and what a
artist/woodcarver/wood turner can do with a chunk of wood or
other mediums. Maybe a little of imagination. Some of these
projects where designed for the customer (called
commissions) and we worked together to design own special
theme.
I do not repeat my carvings. Some may look alike but they
are not exactly carved the same. I get very bored doing the
same thing over and over. It's not fun carving that way. So
I don't! I hope you enjoy viewing my carvings and each one
has a special place in my heart. I don't have every picture
listed as some left before I thought of taking a picture.
But I learned the hard way and now make sure I have the
picture before it goes out the door!
*I didn't realize how many mediums I was in, or how
much carving I did and this isn't all of my carvings since
1996. Come back...I'm sure I'll be adding future projects,
of what? You'll have to come back for another visit. I hope
you do. :-)
Enjoy.

This is where it all
began! I decided since I wimped
out carving both
Ahhh,,,my first taste in mallet
carving. eyes the first time, on the next one,
I had
better try carving both eyes! This is the project
that
developed into designing for an actual a birdhouse.

Some styles of my hand carved birdhouses
for the bluebird, wren, and chickadee.
I do NOT use power tools when carving my birdhouses or
butterfly houses.
Many of these were commission projects and designed for
their own decor. |

-My hand carved ducks-
I did not use any
power to carve these ducks!
After I wood burned them, they had such a soft
look so I decided to skip the painting. |

-Moose
antler carvings-
My carving adventure with
antlers. And YES, you have to use power for carving on
antlers and DO NOT
inhale the dust of antler carving, bacteria within the
antlers can damage your lungs! I added close shots of the
eagle carving. LOTS of detailing isn't it? I sure had a lot
of fun with this one! My husband thinks I have WAY too much
time on my hands! I enjoyed the experience, but I went back
to my love of creating with wood. |

To carve eggs, you need to use power tools. Went
back to carving wood. I had to at least try them. |

| -My wood turning projects- |
|
I'm afraid this year, I have discovered
wood turning! Not MY fault. It's my HUSBANDS fault, really.
He's the one that bought me the lathe. (sweetheart isn't
he?, I think so!) Hey, if it keeps me out of the kitchen or
doing housework..what do you think I would choose to do?
YUP-in my studio to play..I mean work....yeah right! So
these are my latest turning. Be gentle ok? I only have been
turning for a few months. And you know what?
IT'S A BLAST! |
